I really am loving eye shadow at the moment. Something in me just clicked and I've been ignoring my lipstick love in favour of prettifying my peepers. These L'Oreal 24hr Infallible Eye Shadows in 'Amber Rush' and 'Bronzed Taupe' have been my most reached for since I received them.

Little pots of pressed pigment and me have always had a shaky relationship. Having owned loose powders before (much to my carpet's detriment) I thought these new additions would be the messiest thing in my entire collection to use. Coming with a cute little stopper to keep the powder from budging, they're actually really easy to keep neat and tidy. They're small enough to throw in my makeup bag for on the go and sturdy enough for a little bashing about too.
Amber Rush is the most stunning neutral light copper with the subtlest hint of pink - let's just say dark Rose Gold and be done with it - for sweeping all over the lid, whilst Bronzed Taupe is a fabulous crease colour, just dark enough to be noticeable but less bright than a full on bronze. I have noticed though that Bronzed Taupe strays from the bronzed look into the realms of dark brown the more you apply which is quite interesting.
They're absolutely beautiful as stand alone colours or used together.

They are very shimmery in the pot but unless you're really packing them onto the lid they're actually very subtle and wearable for every day. They're incredibly pigmented so really you only need a light wash to achieve a great colour pay off. They're quite buttery in texture too which makes them easy to blend and the wear time is like nothing I've ever encountered: 8 hours without a primer and more than 10 with one.
They don't crease. They don't budge. They don't have fall out. Are they Holy Grail material?

Unfortunately, whilst we Brits do have the Infallible range in our usual high-street haunts, we don't have these American shades. Amber Rush and Bronzed Taupe are exclusively US shades. If you want something similar, having compared and swatched, Amber Rush is very similar to Urban Decay's 'Toasted' (UD possibly a touch more gold) and Bronzed Taupe is very similar to Urban Decay's YKD (UD is possibly a touch more coppery). These were the best dupes I could come up with. There were a couple of MAC shades that looked similar but, to be honest, it was hard to find anything exactly like them.
I'll definitely be picking up some of the British shades available: I have my eye on Sahara Treasure next...

L'Oreal 24hr Infallible Eyeshadows (RRP £6.99 each) are available from L'Oreal counters across the UK as well as online retailers. Amber Rush and Bronzed Taupe are US exclusives but may be available on eBay from this seller for a higher price. You can follow L'Oreal on Twitter and Facebook for news, new products and competitions.

  2. They sound amazing! I'm a bit clumsy so tend to stay away from loose powder, but these definitely look worth a try! :)
