As stock piles of my Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair samples dwindle I've been forced to look elsewhere to for a face serum. I wanted something affordable but would give me the same results as my beloved ANR. I was perhaps asking too much.

At work I noticed that Dirty Works Lift and Firm Super Skin Serum was on offer and snapped it up. Exclusive to Sainsbury's supermarkets, Dirty Works is a brand I am beginning to explore. The packaging is reminiscent of Soap and Glory with it's cutesy vintage inspired theme. The information is easy to digest and understand and the ingredients are predominately botanical based.

The serum is very light and easy to smooth across the skin. A little goes a long way with this too which is great as it means I don't have to waste a lot of the product. It's a little greasy feeling and looking when it's first applied but that soon goes which is a good thing. I've been using it under moisturiser and so far the results are proving good - my pores appear to be smaller when scrutinized straight after application and my fine lines haven't got any deeper than they are already. It leaves my skin feeling a little bit taught but that soon wears off.

I haven't noticed any dramatic improvements though - there hasn't been any prolonged effects such as clearer skin or a smoother feeling to my face. I don't see that dewy radiant glow it claims to give skin either - just the usual look that I get when I cleanse and apply moisturiser. I'm not sure I would repurchase this product as I expect a bit more from a serum but for younger skins and those on a budget I would say give it a go and make your own mind up as skin care is a matter of personal taste when it comes to things like this.

Dirty Works is exclusive to Sainsburys stores nationwide. Offers may vary dependent on the store. You can visit the Dirty Works website here. Dirty Works Lift and Firm Super Skin Serum RRP: £3.99.
